1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy describes how CanvasEdge ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the CanvasEdge browser extension and the website at canvasedge.xyz (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Services.
2. What we collect
Account & payment data
When you purchase CanvasEdge, our payment processor Lemon Squeezy collects your email address, billing details, and payment information. We never see or store your card numbers — Lemon Squeezy handles all payment processing as the Merchant of Record.
License & device data
When you activate your license inside the extension, we generate a random device ID (a UUID) on your machine and send it together with your license key to validate the activation. We use this only to enforce the 2-device-per-license limit. We do not collect a hardware fingerprint or anything that personally identifies your device beyond this random ID.
Local extension storage
Your settings and preferences are stored locally in your browser via Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device.
Email correspondence
If you email support, we keep that email until you ask us to delete it.
3. What we do not collect
The CanvasEdge extension can run on Canvas pages, so we want to be explicit about what we never collect:
- We do not collect your Canvas content — no quiz questions, answers, grades, course material, or messages.
- We do not collect your browsing history, even within Canvas.
- We do not run analytics or tracking pixels on the website or in the extension.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising.
4. How we use your information
We use the limited information we collect only to:
- Process your payment and deliver your license key (via Lemon Squeezy).
- Validate your license key during the periodic re-validation that runs roughly once every 24 hours.
- Reply to support emails.
- Send transactional email (payment receipts, license-related notices). We do not send marketing email.
5. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of providers to operate the Services:
- Lemon Squeezy — payment processing, license issuance, and transactional email. See their privacy policy.
- Hosting / DNS provider — to serve canvasedge.xyz. Standard server request logs apply (IP address, user-agent, timestamp), kept only for the period required to operate the site.
That is the entire list. There is no Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Mixpanel, Segment, or similar tracker.
6. Data retention
Your license record is retained while your license is active and for a reasonable period after for tax and audit purposes (typically up to 7 years, per Lemon Squeezy's tax compliance obligations). You can request deletion at any time and we will scrub our records, though Lemon Squeezy may retain records they are legally required to keep.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you may have the right to:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your personal data.
- Withdraw consent and stop using the Services.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Security
All license validation traffic uses HTTPS. Payment data is handled exclusively by Lemon Squeezy under their PCI-DSS compliance. No system is perfectly secure, but we deliberately do not store sensitive financial data ourselves, which materially reduces your risk.
9. Children
CanvasEdge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor under 13 has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we do, we will post the new version here with an updated effective date. Continued use after the update means you accept the changes.
